Several of my blog friends have inquired about my plans for "detoxing" my family and incorporating more whole foods into our diets. Therefore, I thought I would post about our progress each week. I will let you know what we trying, what has worked, and what has bombed. In addition, I will share recipes and resources that I find helpful. It is my hope that you will share your experiences, as well.
Week One Goals
*No sugary breakfast cereals.
*Cut down on white flour products.
Breakfasts - Eggs (hard boiled, scrambled), ww bagels with cream cheese, plain yogurt with flax seed and granola, peanut butter and banana on toast, Heavenly Homemaker's Giant Breakfast Cookies
Lunches - Chicken strips, turkey and cheese roll up (ww tortilla), ww pasta and sauce, egg salad, tuna fish sandwich
Dinners - Chicken and veggie stir fry, Barefoot Contessa's Tarragon Chicken Salad over mixed greens, hamburger patties and bean/carrot mix, Mahi-Mahi and brussel sprouts, soup and sandwiches/salad, Pioneer Woman's Spicy Shredded Pork with ww tortillas
*Samantha is a very good eater and will eat all of these dinners. However, Wes and Gracen are a little pickier. If they do not like what we are having, they can choose to have a sandwich on ww, yogurt and fruit, or cereal (TJ soy and flax clusters).
What are your goals for this week? Any advice or suggestions for me?

Sounds like you're off to a great start!
Thanks for sharing your menu. We are also trying to modify our diet somewhat, and I'll check the recipes that you recommend. One thing that we did is eliminating sweet afternoon snacks replacing them with fruit or pretzels. Baby steps, but important in improving our diets overall.
Loving your Week One goals! I'm hoping to do something similar in our house. I'm so glad you are sharing your menus. My first thought when I read the menu was, "gee, her kids must not be picky eaters"...then I saw the part about the alternate meals if they didn't want what's on the menu. ;)
Cara,
Oh, no! Trust me - Weslyn and Gracen are both quite picky. Wes does not eat meat (except chicken nuggets) and Gracen eats almost no veggies. This is a constant struggle. We do the best we can, and I try not to worry too much.
We are trying to modify our diet too. My biggest goal is to cut down on the amount of refined sugar we eat. I'm going to pay extra close attention to your posts. Funny (well, not really) the only meat C will eat is chicken nuggets and occasionally bacon. It's so frustrating. R, on the other hand, eats everything! It's a pleasure to cook for her. Good luck with your goals. I love Barefoot Contessa!
