You all know that Sylvan Dell is one of my very favorite publishers. Well, another one of my favorites is Lee and Low. They focus on diversity and their mission is "to meet the need for stories that all children can identify with and enjoy".
In addition to fabulous books, Lee and Low also has a website full of useful resources. They have an educator's section with pages for teachers and homeschooling families, a calendar page that offers book suggestions to correlate with particular dates and holidays, and a page of fun, educational activities that correlate to Lee and Low titles.

After a day away from home, will Nonie reconsider her move and return to Momma, Daddy, and baby brother? Maybe . . . maybe . . . if she can make a deal about breakfast!
This book fully captures the the soul and spirit of the African American community. It will be appreciated by children and adults.

I just took a great book out of the library: Whoever You Are by Mem Fox and Leslie Staub. I love it.
I like this book about a little girl and her goat...gosh for the life of me can't remember its name. Think it had a foreword by Hillary Clinton

Umm I really can not think of any multicultural books that we have read. It's not that I consciously eliminate them from our reading... we just chose books about animals or funny books. So if The Story Of Ping by Margery Flack counts then i will choose that one :)

These three books sound really great! My favorite multicultural children's book is for an older audience, but still children's lit: Children of the River by Linda Crew. I also really like "Scribbleville" by Peter Holwitz - not explicitly multicultural, but a good story about appreciating diversity.

We did a multicultural unit about Cinderella around the world---It is amazing the things these stories have in common but also weaving in cultural differences from around the world. It is a wonderful unit....

I was thinking about what multi-cultural books we read -- I know we've read some but I had to really think about it for a bit. I came up with "Something from Nothing" which is Jewish-American culture (my kids love this book, we read it a lot) and also "The Hanukkah Mice" which we read every holiday season. Oh and we love Rosemary Wells' books and she does a series about a Japanese girl which we found at the library and the kids really liked -- but I can't remember the titles now!
