Young Chapter Books by Lynn Hazen

This giveaway is closed.
The lucky winner is Noreen from A Silly Mommy of 2.
Thanks to all who entered!

Lynn Hazen is an author who writes children's books and young adult novels filled with humor, heart, and hope. Her current list of titles includes:
  • Cinder Rabbit (Young chapter book)
  • The Amazing Trail of Seymour Snail (Young chapter book)
  • Buzz Bumble to the Rescue (Picture Book)
  • Mermaid Mary Margaret (Middle Grade Novel)
This giveaway is for Cinder Rabbit and The Amazing Trail of Seymour Snail.

Cinder Rabbit
From School Library Review...

Zoe, a young bunny, is excited to have the role of Cinder Rabbit in her school's spring play. That is, until she learns that as the star she will be required to lead the class in the Bunny Hop...—Heather M. Campbell, Philip S. Miller Library, Castle Rock, CO

The Amazing Trail of Seymour Snail

Seymour is an artistic snail and he is looking for a job in all the wrong places. At a French Restaurant? At the Gooey Garden Pest Control Company? When Seymour finally finds a job at the Speedy Arts Gallery, he is thrilled--until he finds himself sliming envelopes shut and delivering packages. Well, even great artists have to start somewhere. Who knows? Seymour's big break might be just around the corner!

Both of these books would be perfect choices for read alouds for preschoolers - 3rd graders. Although they are chapter books, they contain adorable black and white illustrations that children will love. In addition, the stories contain just the right amount of sillyness, engaging and relatable characters, and happy endings.

To enter this giveway ~ Leave us a comment telling us about your (or your children's) favorite young chapter books.

These look like a great way for us to get started with chapter books, but we haven't read any yet. :) My favorites that I can remember weren't for the young...Little House, Babysitters' Club were my favorties.

we haven't gotten into chapter books yet...but we need some good books to start and these would be great :-)

We do love the Thomas the Train books...and they have several stories in one book...so that is pretty close to a chapter book I would think :-)

We made bookmarks at story time at the library this week..and Seth wanted to know why we needed a bookmark and so we started a discussion on chapter books...so it would be cool to have a chapter book and if I could win one that would be all the better :-)

Thanks for the chance!

Sad to say, we have not yet started chapter books. It has been on my agenda to start read-alouds with them, but we just haven't. But, now I have gotten the kick in the rear and we are starting next week...just have to decide which book to start!

We've posted about this at Winning Readings:

http://winningreadings.blogspot.com/2009/09/lynn-hazen-books.html

And 2yo Esme hasn't experienced too many chapter books so far, but one that was rather successful was Penny and Rio: The Mysterious Backyard Meeting. Just right for an introductory chapter book with pictures on every other page...

My kindergarten class loves to hear the Magic Tree House books. As far as easy chapter books to read, they tend to like ones that have familiar characters.

Those books look great. We haven't read any chapter books (other than The Jesus Bible Storybook, which might count), but I've been hoping to add this to our routine this fall or winter. Glad to hear these suggestions.

We started Charlotte's Web a while back, but the little ones lost interest (they were still a bit young for chapter books then). I should try again now that they're a little older! Thanks for the chance!
